 So technically I'm combining days 13 and 14 into 1 outfit.

I call it: Be a neutral copycat with pop.

Some might call it lazy, I call it efficient.

Where is my "pop" you ask? Does this adorable orange accessory count?

Just in case Kayla doesn't deem it within regulation since this "accessory" will leave me at the first sight of Thomas the Tank Engine, I decided to channel Mimi Bobeck from the Drew Carey show and rock bright blue eye shadow as my pop of color.

I got my little carni-sized hands on this shirt while vacationing in Kauai for my mom's 60th birthday. It wasn't from a typical souvenir shop with the ubiquitous Made In *insert southeast Asian country here* sticker on every bit of merchandise. It was from one of those hole-in-the-wall stores that sold everything from clothes to wind chimes to just about anything you can dream up hand-made out of koa wood. It adds the perfect splash of color my full panel preggo jeans so desperately needs and even camoflauged my typical coffee dribble from this morning. Don't worry folks, it's decaf. Maybe. Guess you'll never know.

You're probably thinking, "What bracelet?" Squint your eyes and look closely at my right wrist. Trust me folks, it's there. I clearly have to work on my showcasing-the-small-details-in-outfit-pics skills. Tyra would be horrified, I'm sure. In my defense, I think it's almost impossible to 'smeyes' with Asian ojos...they're pretty much in a perma-smeyes.

Can I say how much I'm loving grey and pink together?? Well too bad b/c I just said it. Whether it's clothes or room decor, the color combo makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

On a side note, Jorts and I met 5 years ago today. Who knew what started out as a lame pickup line in a club would turn out to be marriage and babies?? Love you boo. For life.

I bought this blouse during one of Gap's ridonkulous sales with the highest of hopes. I loved the color, the polka dots and, most of all, the ruffles down the front. Sadly, it was voted off of wardrobe island after a gajillion attempts to make it work. None of my pantalones had a high enough waist to tuck this purple gem into without looking Sloppy Sally (no offense to anyone named Sally). Leaving it untucked and belting it never looked right either because its length was off ever so slightly, probably due to my abnormally long torso. But thanks to my trusty stretchy pencil skirt and the not-so-little Baby Bean growing in my now non-existant waistline, I was able to overcome my 2 hurdles and rescue this little orphan from the donation pile.

I was going to play it safe with black but realized last minute that I had everything I needed for an all-purple ensemble. Purple is the new black, right? I think I read that somewhere...or maybe I just made it up...either way, I feel super femenine & flowy today thanks to yet another maxi dress. I just might make them my preggo uniform, don't judge. Anything with a waistband is my arch nemesis right now. Even that belt is treading dangerous waters.

I just might get all cray cray and put up another post tonight with a mini spruce-up of our master bathroom. Stay tuned if you can handle the suspense.

I assure you my eyes in all three pictures are in fact open. And no, I didn't step in dog poop in the first picture but I did almost break an ankle on those dang rocks. Today was my first, and most likely last, time I attempt to take pictures outside. Even at 7 am, the AZ sun makes it blindingly impossible to look bright eyed and bushy tailed for ones outfit pics.

For today's challenge I combined a quasi-fancy khaki blazer and my pearls with a graphic tee and jean shorts with an elastic waistband (how much more cashz can you get?)

As happy as I am with how my challenge came out, I have leaps and bounds to go before I achieve the effortless style of my son.

H, you are my hero.

Boring with a Big Jaw

These are just some of the words I was able to find thanks to Microsoft Word Thesaurus to describe my accessory inventory, or lack thereof. (Ok maybe not ho hum. I thought of that gem all by myself.) My jewelry box consists of a set of pearls I got as a push gift and a few random trinkets I've collected over the years. Though few, every item is a pretty bold statement piece so I found it really hard to put together a layered look. I wore this black maxi dress/borderline muu muu with no other bells or whistles because I didn't want anything to compete with these 2 chunky monkey necklaces (and had nothing to do with the fact that it's insanely comfortable around my expanding abdomen).

Not gonna lie, I wasn't completely sold on my necklace mash-up so I took the long one off and added a button-up tied at the waist for modesty before heading to mass. Nobody wants to see bra straps in church. I did, however, manage to score not one but two compliments on the short necklace I left on during our trip to Costco this afternoon. And we all know that place is the fashion apex among all the bulk goods retailers. I don't mean to toot my own horn but toot toot!

As I perused through all the pretty pretty link-ups to Kayla's creation yesterday, I couldn't help but wonder how it was already Day 4 and hardly anyone had remixed their item from Day 1. I figured they must be saving up for a whammy at the end of the week. That's when I realized the first challenge was to remix it throughout the 21 days, not just the 1st week.

So I was basically the only weirdo to wear the same shirt day after day.

Super fail. (That was for you JDel)

I'll work on my attention to detail when it comes to instructions.

Jorts has been out of town for the last couple nights so my mommy has been staying with me. (Yes I'm 27 and still call her mommy. No apologies.) Only my mom could turn left over kimchi jjigae into a bowl of noodle deliciousness. I'm pretty sure I did minimal chewing and maximum gorging.

I believe I am on track to remix my item from day 1 a total of 4 times this week. *golf claps*

I also did a little switcheroo by using my purple tube top as a skirt to add another block of color to the 'fit.

Dang, that bottom picture really accentuates my veiny feet. What can I say? I'm vascular.

All those articles/books that falsely claim women should expect to develop a badunkadunk during pregnancy is clearly excluding asian women in their generalization. Endless reps of squats/lunges and even pregnancy itself are no match for my Korean genes. Le sigh.

Today's challenge made me realize I need more patterns in my wardrobe.

I have a good mix of textures, but patterns? Poor showing at best.

That and I need to put the Costco-sized container of Windex that's collecting dust in our laundry room to work.

Also, growing out bangs + stick straight hair = a hot mess.

Aren't prenatal vitamins supposed to help my cause?

I think I need more practice in the pattern mixing department before I can strut around with confidence but that's what challenges like these are for, right?

P.S. We keep it real asian around here and strictly forbid shoes inside the house but I broke my own commandment for the sake of outfit pics. I hope y'all feel special because you are.

And just to take a breather from all this intense fashion biznassss, I bring back the foodie portion.

Thanks to the best big sister in the world who happens to live 5 houses down from us, I came home to a delicious spread of homemade bulgogi.

This stretchy cotton pencil skirt has been in heavy rotation since my waistline started to disappear.

I know I'm lacking in the accessory department but I was too lazy to redo the pics.

21 Day Challenge: Day 1 - Remix

With equal amounts of excitement and nerves, I'm joining the lovely Kayla in my first ever outfit challenge. Prepare yourselves for 3 weeks of bathroom self-portraits of me attempting to step into the shoes of a fashion blogger. Even typing that feels silly but wish me luck folks. And please don't laugh at me too hard.

The inaugural challenge is to pick a non-jean piece to remix at least 3 times throughout this week. My item of choice is this blue V-neck tee from Loft. It's ever so comfy, goes with just about anything and I love how bright the shade of navy is. My favorite part about this shirt are the button details that go down each shoulder. It's a shame I had to cover them up with my cardi but I'm pretty sure they keep the thermostat somewhere around 32 degrees in my office so I have to dress for 2 different seasons everyday.
